On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Seaworthy Collective held its 5th Cohort Startup Showcase at the Frost Science Museum in Miami, and it was a smash hit—with many saying it was our best yet! Thank you to our community (over 100 of you!) for showing up and supporting our amazing startups, and thank you to our partners at Ocean Exchange for keeping the celebration going the entire week.
We had an incredible evening with all 7 startups from our fifth cohort presenting their innovative ocean and climate impact solutions (BlueTech), demonstrating their progress through 12 weeks of Seaworthy team support and programming. This was all at no cost to them thanks to the support of Salesforce and the U.S. Small Business Administration's Growth Accelerator Fund Competition. We were also grateful to our partners at Frost Science, Accountable Impact, Florida for Good Miami, and Ballyhoo Media for enabling a successful event and amplifying our work!
Learn more about the 7 startups in Cohort 5 here. We were thrilled to kick off the evening with a keynote from a fellow ecosystem builder, Millicent (Milly) Pitts, CEO and Executive Director of Ocean Exchange! Milly touched on the growth within BlueTech and Sustainable Ocean Initiatives and highlighted the opportunities for many more entrepreneurs and ocean leaders to join. We are also thankful to the Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science for helping to make this event effortless and to Doug Roberts, Ph. D., President and CEO, for joining us during the private reception!
Alongside pitches from our latest startups and founders, Seaworthy Collective shared some BIG announcements and opportunities, including:
Our new platform, The Shoreline, is accepting applications for our first beta users! We extended our application deadline through December 1st, with onboarding beginning in January. Apply via the form here!
The next cohort of our Startup Studio and Incubator will be Fall 2025 (July - October 2025), with applications opening in early 2025. If you want to access support from Seaworthy sooner - The Shoreline will be our primary offering until then, taking on new users quarterly!
We celebrated our NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Ocean-Based Climate Resilience Accelerators Phase 1 win and announced our new partnership, The Continuum, who successfully submitted our application for Phase 2 in July!
Seaworthy Collective announced its new investment vehicle, RegeneraSea; mobilizing philanthropic capital to drive equitable and exponential ocean and climate impact. It also unveiled its founding investment committee featuring esteemed investors and leading BlueTech experts! We continue to welcome applications for new investment committee members here.
We announced the opportunity for up to 3 new individuals to join Seaworthy Collective's Board of Directors, our first time in 2 years that we are seeking new board members! Board members work hand in hand with our leadership team to support our ongoing development, strategy, and success. We encourage interested prospective board members to fill out your application for our board here (due 11/15).
Finally, we shared our call for new partners for 2025 - if you're looking to maximize the impact of your end of year tax-deductible donations, your support enables Seaworthy to provide scholarships for founders and fellows to access our programs for no equity or fees, bring our community together for our Sea Change Makers Series Panels and Startup Showcases, and invest in the startups we support to enable their ultimate success. Contact us about partnering or donate here.
Keep an eye out for our 2024 impact report sharing all of Seaworthy's accomplishments from this year coming out later this month!
